About Bear Valley Search & Rescue

Who We Are

Bear Valley Search & Rescue is a 100% volunteer team of about 30 dedicated members operating under the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. Since our founding, we’ve served the high-altitude wilderness and residential communities of Bear Valley and its surrounding backcountry.

Our Mission

    Rapid Response: Provide timely search and rescue services—from lost hikers to injured explorers —any time day or night.

    Safety & Education: Promote mountain safety through community outreach and education

    Collaboration: Coordinate with local agencies, law enforcement, and medical professionals to ensure seamless incident management.

Every member brings a passion for the mountains and caring for our neighbors. Whether rigging high-angle rope systems, conducting winter rescues, or navigating rugged trails, our volunteers train relentlessly to meet the unique challenges of the Bear Valley region.
